The Simplicity of Flip Flops

I am what I wear and flip-flops are an excellent analogy for my life. Simple, relaxed, comfortable, down to earth, hides nothing and revealing my soul to others can come naturally. In a perfect world I would wear flip-flops everywhere and everyday. But there are locations or times when I must wear more "appropriate" foot apparel. Going out on the town is one example of where flip flops don't "fit" so well. Social norms for foot covering at locations such as work, clubs or upscale restaurants do not prove successful for flip flop attire. However, I can easily adapt my footwear to these other conditions or locations as they are part of life I enjoy and cannot live without. I am very career focused these days but am looking for more opportunities to execute my "flip-flop element." Rest assured, I will continue my flip flop mentality regardless of whether I am wearing them or the weather conditions outside.

Speaking of adaptation, Darwin was a little off base when he said "survival of the fittest." Let's evolve (or in this case "simplify") his idea a bit. I truly believe he really meant "survival of the simplest". It's the simplest that can survive and adapt to the harshest conditions and not just survive but excel. One only needs to get as complicated as necessary to survive the next hurdle. Darwin could have benefited from shaving with Occam's razor or perhaps tried on a pair of flip-flops and his theories may be different. In this complicated world we live in, I find strength in the simple day to day tasks such as wearing flip-flops and other simple activities we execute on a subconscious level. Beauty through simplicity and sincerity.

Flips-flops are always encouraged but in case the weather or situation does not permit, be sure to bring your flip-flop mentality.
